Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any cost to violin lessons?
No. Lessons are free. You just need to register through our website.
Where do I rent an instrument?
After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with rental and other important information.
Should I rent or buy?
I generally advise new students to rent rather than buy for several reasons. Financial assistance is available if needed.
We have an old violin in the family. Can my child use it?
Maybe. You would have to find the size of the violin (it might be on the tag inside the violin) and your child’s arm length. The chart here can help you find both to see if your child matches the instrument. I would also need to take a look at the instrument to see if it is playable or needs any repairs.

- Buying a quality student instrument that your child will be successful learning with is expensive. Most students start on a 1/2 or 3/4 size or smaller and you would be buying a new instrument every time they grow.
- Budget violins sold online in the $100-250 range or less are often poor quality or unplayable and do not stay in tune consistently throughout the week making for a frustrating learning experience. Learning violin is challenging enough as it is.
- Most rental contracts are rent-to-own where a portion of the monthly fee goes toward purchase. Most rental contracts allow you to exchange the instrument for a bigger size as your child grows. Most rental contracts include insurance and cover normal repairs.
- If your child is starting on a full size or moving to a full size and you are considering buying, please contact me and I can help guide you to find a quality instrument at an affordable price.
